Advocates, Inc., in conjunction with CLIA's President/CEO,
Rick Lawrance, and the Legislative Committee, monitor, track,
and intervene on legislative
issues that affect the lodging industry on a daily basis.

The HelpLine is a valuable
resource offering information and guidance to members with
concerns or questions regarding innkeeping law, wage and
hour issues, regulatory issues, labor laws, marketing tips,

Communications
To keep members informed on
issues of interest and importance, CLIA provides a series
of vital member communications:

Lodging magazine features news and
articles of interest to the hospitality industry with
topics including innkeeping law, tourism promotion and
occupancy building, technology issues, legislative updates
and information on services offered to the lodging industry.
Members receive this CLIA-produced magazine bi-annually.

Facts:
Members receive frequent fax bulletins furnishing
timely information on innkeeping law, new and pending
legislation, industry trends, and news of the association.

Advisory: Members receive frequent

law, new and impending legislation, and other issues of
an urgent nature.
- Directory/Buyers'
Guide: The directory is an
annual comprehensive guide supplying each member with
a complete description of the association's programs,
benefits and available resources.
- Surveys:
CLIA conducts periodic surveys of the
membership to gather and disseminate "issues"
information to the membership and to the news media and,
also, to assist in formulating policy, creating positions
on legislation, and establishing priorities.

Members are offered free
materials to assist with daily operations: room rate cards,
water conservation tent cards, and Proposition 65-compliance

Discounted Materials for CLIA Members
CLIA's attorneys have produced
a publication specifically created for the innkeeper: Guide
to Wages, Hours, Working Conditions & Regulations for
the Lodging Industry, which is available
at a modest fee. Members also receive discounts on legally
required employee poster sets.

CLIA maintains four websites
specifically designed to assist and benefit California lodging
properties:

and www.bbica.com:
CLIA's lodging reservations websites assist the California
traveler in making lodging selections and reservations.
The website www.bbica.com is CLIA's comprehensive Bed
& Breakfast Inns of California site.
CLIA members submit a profile of their lodging property
along with up to (4) color photographs for inclusion on
the websites free of charge.

CLIA's member website directed toward the interests of
the lodging property owner and offering information on:
up-to date legislative tracking, resources for innkeepers,
a listing of CLIA's Board of Directors, a complete description
of CLIA's member benefits, and a comprehensive listing
of buyer resources specifically designed for the lodging
industry.

CLIA's consumer oriented lodging directory exclusively
for CLIA property members. The site offers free hyperlinks
to member property websites.

Action Committee (CALIPAC)
Through CLIA's political action
committee, lodging industry members have the opportunity,
through campaign donations, to support those legislators
who are friends of our association and the tourism industry.
