Biographical Information: J.P. Patel, owner of the Best Western Colony Inn, Atascadero continues his long standing service on the CLIA Board of Directors. Since 1997 he has served in many roles including Board Chair 2002. J.P. along with wife Uloopi and their two sons have owned and operated the Best Western Colony Inn since 1987. Having operated every aspect of the hotel has given the family clear perspective on the industry and its changing needs. He has used his first hand experience and knowledge to educate members of the community on tourism and was a leader in establishing a tourism committee funded by the city in Atascadero. J.P.'s philosophy on business: Good communication and coalition marketing skills, as well as being adaptable to changes based on future trends are necessary ingredients for a successful business.
